Beau's Progress

So we've had the new kitty, Beau "Big Boi" Bridges for 2 nights. So far so good...the first night he stayed in the office overnight so he could have a chance to acclimate to the sounds and smells of the house with out a nose (or three) up his butt (literally!). He and Walter had a spirited discussion through the door and had a paw fight under the door-this had me thinking that BB's integration into the household might take a while.

However, these are the photos I snapped this morning at breakfast.

How Big Boy got his name!

Eating their first meal together, on the second morning!
Last night when I introduced Walter and Beau face to face, they sniffed butts, touched noses, and walked away. I think they will be fast friends, or at least good roommates. Of course not every introduction has gone as smoothly. Beau has been hissing and running away from both dogs. Winnie and Sharona despite their curiosity have been respecting his space. I have noticed that even though Beau runs away, he reappears very quickly, so I don't think it will take him long to get used to the dogs.

As for his human interactions, he's a love bug. He's very into being pet and he likes to be picked up. Right now he's very needy and considering his former living conditions, I can't say that I blame him. I am very excited to help our new guy be a healthy, happy and well-adjusted kitty.

So, tell me, what are your tips and tricks for integrating a new kitty into your home? Any words of wisdom to help BB's transition continue to be smooth?

  1. Heck, I don't think there's any more "transition" left! Sounds like he's making himself right at home, and happy to do so. Yay!!
Funny, Beau looks just like our Bo! Seriously! Give him a big hug from us :)
